Progressive State or Constitutional Republic. You Choose.

Starting back as far as President Wilson, our federal government has increasingly reached outside the constitution to accomplish its ends.

That is less of a mystery if you consider one thing. Progressivism is diametrically opposed to the values of the framers of our country. The framers wrote a document that clearly states: These are the powers that we vest in the Federal Government. We have enumerated them as clearly as we can. They are fences. Boundaries. Limits on federal power. Everything else is left to the states.

Progressivism, on the other hand, is a philosophy that invites–no,it demands–a strong empowered central government. It simply cannot live within those boundaries and meet its ends.

How is this mismatch dealt with? The constitution is regularly redefined or ignored.

When she was asked where in the constitution the government got the power to force citizens on healthcare, Nancy Pelosi asked, “Are you serious?” (Ignore) After some thought she replied, “In the Commerce clause.” (Redefine).

The bottom line is that nearly half of our citizens have accepted–mostly through slanted education and reporting–a set of values that is absolutely antithetical to those of the country they were born or invited in to.

Where does this end? Clearly, one of these ideologies must prevail over the other.

In the end we will do one of two things. a) we will flush the constitution and have a progressive collectivist state with no limits on power and no protection whatever from absolute tyranny, or b) we will return to honoring, respecting and living within the constraints of the document that made our country the beacon of freedom and hope to a troubled world.

Vote and vote smart.
