January 6: Keeping The Lie alive

By now we all know that January 6 will most likely become a national holiday for the massive, historic, monumental insurrection that it was.

But clearheaded people also see that as simply a lie. An insurrection where no one carried a gun? Where none of the marauders drew blood? Please!

If you call January 6 disorderly trespassing you would not be far off. To call it an insurrection—meaning an attempt to displace a government and replace it with another—is bold hyperbole.

Yet in this political climate it must be done.

The Democrats have one purpose and one mission. Keep power out of the hands of Donald Trump. And branding the disorderly trespass of January 6 and insurrection serves that purpose well. And why do they so desperately cling to it? After six years of intense and costly investigations, it’s still all they’ve got on the guy.

Because it’s easy to connect January 6 to Donald Trump, it’s necessary to Inflate it as much as possible—to sear it indelibly as an insurrection on the national consciousness—so that anyone who even thinks of supporting Donald Trump become themselves a traitor to their national heritage.

Sadly, some will buy that song and dance.

For over a year this nation was treated to far more than disorderly trespassing—in Minneapolis, in Seattle, in Portland. Whole blocks were burned, many died— but no commission is studying that. Why? Because it would serve no useful purpose in the coming election.

At this point, everything you hear about January 6 is a magnification—a coordinated effort to keep the lie alive long enough to affect an election.

It’s that simple.
