Suppose, just to oversimplify things a little, there were three groups of people in this country.
The first group valued equality and equity over everything else—and we’re working to create a utopia where everyone was treated equally. Just for the sake of conversation, we will call these Democrats.
Suppose there was another group of people that were very concerned about the world situation and unrest in our country and wanted to make absolutely sure that Iran never got a nuclear weapon to further their terrorism goals, and was working to keep meaningful borders around our country. Just for the sake of conversation, we will call these Republicans.
Now suppose there was a third group of people, a minority for now, who’s value system compelled them to work toward a worldwide caliphate – – where all of the world would bow down to their God. Just for the sake of conversation will call these Islamists.
That, in a nutshell, is the root of the conflict that we have in our country today. Three groups of people. Three vastly different value systems, each thinking their way will move humanity to a better place. And all occupying the same real estate.
An egalatian utopia, or a safe and secure world, or a world that bows down to Allah.
There doesn’t seem to be a lot of ways to compromise and find middle ground between these, so somebody has to win. And that means somebody has to lose.
Who will win?
